“When I came to Melbourne in 2017, I was constantly told that success lies outside our comfort zone. Like most of us here, I was eager to challenge myself and explore the many opportunities available at uni.

But guess what, life doesn’t always go according to plan. Mine didn’t. I was having some difficulties adjusting to my new environment- juggling my work, studies and new life in Melbourne. As stressful as it can be, it is those challenges that test our limits and encourage us to prove our zeal.

To cut it short, you could say that I was feeling overwhelmed and letting life’s challenges take their toll on me. However, life and timing often have a way of surprising us and beautifully working their magic. Like they say, ‘light can only shine through cracks and holes.’

As I reflect on my time at MBS, I can gladly say that my experience has helped me accept and embrace the tricky side of life. If someone were to ask me if I would do it all over again, my answer would be a big YES. This journey is worth everything- especially the hurdles and failures.

To everyone who reads this, I’d like to say that you should never doubt yourself, no matter where you are in life (as hard as that can be). Especially when the times get tough, remember that you always have something to celebrate. It’s okay to fail. It’s okay to miss out on opportunities. You don’t have to tick all the boxes.

A message to everyone who is struggling, you will shine when it’s your time. Never lose hope and don’t miss out on celebrating the small victories. Be grateful for your parents, family, friends and loved ones because they love you for who you are and not what you achieve.”
