The MBS Student Association is the leading provider of social, professional and volunteer events to the students of Melbourne Business School. We are a not-for-profit organisation with an active member base of over 1800 graduate students and post-doctoral researchers at Melbourne Business School. Our purpose is to enrich the experience of MBS students by organising social and professional events that provide opportunities to interact with fellow students and broaden social and professional networks.
2018 Semester 1
Laura is in her final semester of Master of Management (Marketing) having graduated with a Bachelor of Arts (Psychology and French) from the University of Melbourne in 2015. As President, Laura is looking forward to leading MBSSA’s passionate committee, collaborating with external stakeholders, and developing long-term strategic objectives to actively engage and enrich the student experience. Outside of the university, her passions include an avid love of food and travel.
Darran is currently in his last semester of the Master of Management (Finance) having previously completed a Bachelor of Computer Science and worked as an IT Security Consultant at Ernst and Young. When time permits, Darran can be found on hiking trails and in a competitive game of soccer. As Vice President, he looks forward to coordinating the internal operations of the committee and supporting the event teams to ensure smooth delivery of exciting events to the broader MBS community.
Angie is currently in her last semester of Master of Management (Finance), having graduated from a Bachelor of Science (Psychology) from the University of Melbourne in 2016. Outside of finance, she has a passion for mental health and corporate wellness. In her spare time she enjoys playing the piano, travelling and reading a good book. As the Chief Financial Officer, she aims to effectively manage the budget and work with the Sponsorship Officers to establish and maintain a strong network of sponsors to add value to the students of MBS.
Imogen commenced a Master of Management at The University of Melbourne in 2017 and aspires to work in management consulting upon graduation, with particular interests in strategy and organisational culture. As Chief Operating Officer, Imogen is eager to find new opportunities to create value and enrich the university experience of MBS students through the diverse events hosted by MBSSA. In her spare time, Imogen enjoys cooking and has also recently taken up sailing.
Jessica is in her final semester of the Master of Management (Marketing) having previously graduated with a Bachelor of Arts (Media and Communications) and a Diploma of Languages (French) from the University of Melbourne in 2015. As Marketing Director, she is excited to lead a passionate and dedicated team to enhance the MBSSA brand through implementing strategic and creative strategies across all channels. Outside of university, Jessica is passionate about cooking, exercising, creative writing and performing arts.
Issy graduated from the University of Melbourne with a Bachelor of Arts (History and Cultural Studies). She is currently in her third semester of the Master of Management (Human Resources) degree at the Melbourne Business School. Her interest includes blogging, travel, and group fitness classes. Issy revels in the opportunity to reach out to the MBS community through our variety of social media platforms. Her goal is to enhance MBS students’ sense of personal belonging and engagement within the business school environment.
Taylah graduated with a Bachelor of Environments (Architecture)from the University of Melbourne in 2016. She is currently in the final semester of her Masters of Management (Marketing) degree. Taylah has joined the MBS Student Association to produce quality marketing materials that will help to engage with MBS students and enrich their university experience. Outside of university, her passions include dancing, design and travel.
Prateek graduated with a double Bachelors in Mechanical Engineering from the Fachhochschule Kiel, Germany and SRM University, India. He is currently in his second semester of Master of Management degree at the Melbourne Business School . Prateek has joined the MBS Student Association to build his professional network and to show his fellow students the beauty of the MBS world through his lens. His interests include travel, photography, sports, learning new languages and playing his ukulele.
Farah graduated with a Bachelor of Arts (Asian Studies) from the University of Melbourne. She is currently in her second semester of the Master of Management (Marketing) degree at the Melbourne Business School. Farah has joined the MBS Student Association to increase student engagement and foster greater connectivity amongst the MBS community. Outside of university, she is passionate about photography, fitness and her dog, Arthur.
Sonia is currently in her final semester studying the Master of Management (Finance), having graduated with a Bachelor of Science (Environment) from the University of Western Australia. Sonia is looking to make the online experience seamless for MBS community given it is her first time in a web developer role. This is her third semester on the MBSSA community as she is passionate about enhancing students’ postgraduate experience. Aside from uni, she is an avid foodie who loves to travel and be outdoors.
Mitch graduated in International Business and Business Administration in France 2016 and in Italy 2015 respectively and is currently pursuing his final year of Master of Management Finance from The University of Melbourne. His interests and passions are sports activities especially soccer, photography, music, cinema and traveling to discover new realities. Mitch took part in MBS Student Association for meeting new brilliant people and to get involved in the everyday university routine.
After having lived in Dubai for 20 years, Mamta moved to Melbourne and is currently pursuing a Master of International Business. She graduated with a Bachelor of Accounting and Finance from Bombay, India and then went on to work for Nestlé U.A.E. for three and a half years. A result-driven professional & fanatic of numbers, she is particularly interested in exploring avenues related to Strategy and Consulting. As a Sponsorship officer, she is looking forward to the challenge of building long-lasting relationships with external sponsors and increase the reach of the MBSSA brand. When not in the postgraduate space, she enjoys hiking, travel, reading and discovering some of the best coffee and brunch spots around Melbourne.
Puneet is from Indore, India and is pursuing Masters of Management (Accounting & Finance) at The Melbourne Business School. He has earlier graduated with a Bsc Hons in Finance & Accounting from the University of Nottingham, UK. Puneet is passionate about traveling, sports, exploring different cuisines & languages. He joined the MBSSA to enrich the MBS experience for himself & all other students whilst honing his own skill set.
Katie graduated with a Bachelor of Arts from the University of British Columbia, majoring in Biopsychology. She is currently in her second semester pursing a Master in Management. During her spare time, Katie enjoys discovering new local cafes and restaurants with friends, listening to music and traveling. As an event coordinator, Katie is eager to help enrich the student experience for her MBS peers and meet new friends.
Brent graduated from the University of Melbourne with a Bachelor of Arts (Politics and Chinese). After a year of work and travel, he returned to study the Master of Management (Marketing) at Melbourne Business School in 2017. In his spare time, Brent enjoys eating pizza and watching terrible movies with friends. In the role of event coordinator, he hopes that he can help other students have meaningful and lasting memories of their time at Melbourne Business School.
Bart pursued a Double Degree program in Italy and in France, graduated in International Management and Business Administration. He is currently in his third semester pursuing Master of Management (Marketing). During his spare time, Bart enjoys playing tennis, listening to music and tasting wine and cheeses around Melbourne. He is passionate about philosophy, greek mythology and interested in startups and entrepreneurship. As an Event Manager he is looking forward to organising exciting events for the MBS student cohort.
Adam is in his second semester of the Master of International Business, having graduated with a Bachelor of Commerce (Marketing & Finance) from the University of Melbourne. He is passionate about the intricacies of management and marketing across cultures and their implications for human behaviour. As an Event Coordinator, Adam is eager to organise and participate in MBSSA events that embrace inclusion within the diverse MBS community. Outside of study, he takes a keen interest in aviation, travel, and cooking.
Lia graduated from the University of Warwick, U.K with a BA in Classical Civilisations in 2017. Driven by her love for Melbourne, she decided to pursue a Masters of Management at Melbourne Business School and is currently in her second semester. Lia is enthusiastic about collaborating with the MBSSA committee in organizing and producing memorable and inspiring events, whilst acquiring new friendships and networks within MBS’s diverse student community. When she is not studying (aka drinking soy flat whites), Lia loves to spend her time reading in Melbourne’s indulgent chocolate cafés or luxuriating in the city’s exquisite bar scene.
Ria is from New Delhi (India) and is currently pursuing her masters in Actuarial Science at the Melbourne Business school. She has joined the association to enrich her university life with something other than studying and to develop on her skill set. In her free time, she enjoys traveling, hiking, running and playing sudoku.
Katie Rich is currently completing her second semester in a Master of International Business.Katie previously graduated from The University of Tennessee in the U.S. with a BSc. in Marketing. Having moved and lived in five countries previously, Katie has been characterised a “Global Nomad”, and thus, sought Melbourne as her sixth country due to its vast and unique blend of cultures. She passionately pursues opportunities to learn and to interact with people from a variety of cultural backgrounds. Outside of University, Katie engages in health and fitness, hiking, travel, and mixed media art. As an event coordinator, she is excited to help immerse students into MBS both professionally and socially.
Yiji is currently in her third semester of the Master of Management (Accounting), having graduated with a Bachelor’s degree in Arts ( Journalism ) in Shanghai in 2017. She enjoys traveling, eating and Latin dance. As an event coordinator, Yiji is looking forward to meeting lots of new friends and providing remarkable events that enrich the experience of students at MBS.
Debbie is in her last semester of the Master of Management (Marketing) at Melbourne Business School, having graduated with a Bachelor of Pharmacy from Monash University. As an Event Manager, she hopes to work with her team to put up fun and exciting events that enrich students’ experiences at MBS. Debbie enjoys traveling and visiting museums in different countries to soak up all the culture and history it has to offer.
Maximilian is currently in his third semester of the Master of Management at the Melbourne Business School, having graduated with a Bachelor’s degree in Politics and Business from Germany. Prior to beginning his studies in Melbourne, he has gained working experience in USA and India. He is passionate about travel, history, and classic cinema. As Event Coordinator, Maximilian wishes broaden the overall student engagement and help facilitate an enriching experience to his peers at MBS.
Simran is currently in her second semester pursuing a Master’s Degree in Management (Marketing), having previously completed a Bachelor’s degree in Commerce from India. As an Event Coordinator, she is looking forward to working with the dynamic MBSSA team to provide exciting events that add value to student life at MBS. In her spare time, Simran enjoys traveling, cooking, singing, and exploring cafes and bars in Melbourne.
