Maud Piovesan, Master of Management

“I’m Maud, a third-semester student from France studying a Master of Management. Although I hate being defined by my nationality (the Frenchie!), it sometimes explains some of my actions. And that is something I learnt within Unimelb, the omnipresence of cultural differences and how they impact our decisions, and how we can learn from each other and translate this university experience into life experience.⁣⁣⁣

My journey to Australia was very random. I was supposed to go to Canada to do an internship when I was 19. However, as the company cancelled last minute, I applied to Australia! And here I was, working at the Australian Criminal Law Specialists in Sydney for a few months. I fell in love with Australian people, lifestyle and culture. But the pivotal moment was when I travelled to Melbourne for three days.⁣⁣⁣

You know when all of a sudden, you feel like you are exactly where you are supposed to be? At the right place, the right moment, with the right people? That’s how I felt. I decided to go back to France to finish my Double-degree in Private Law and Applied Foreign Languages and applied to MBS.⁣⁣⁣

A year and a half after, I have never been happier in my life. I am so grateful I took this decision and made it happen, through hard work and resilience. I met some of the most important people of my life during orientation week, and even, for some, as soon as the first hour. These smart, funny and driven people from all over the world made me grow and blossom into a more tolerant and confident young woman.⁣⁣⁣

If at first sight, MBS is like the Babel Tower, where people speak different languages, we learn overtime how to speak the same and create a community. And I’m so proud to be part of it.”⁣⁣⁣
