“I’m Shuntao, a final-semester Master of Finance student from China. After finishing my Bachelor of Commerce (Finance and Management), my passion for Finance has led me to further pursue a Masters degree. To me, MBS was an easy first choice, as not only was Melbourne the world’s most liveable city in 2017, everything I had was also here in Melbourne. I was over the moon when I received the offer from MBS!
My journey leading to MBS was not always this clear. After graduating from high school, I did a Bachelor of Hotel Management at the École hôtelière de Lausanne, in Switzerland. A year later, I came to realise that I couldn’t see myself living in the snowy Alps for another 3 more years; I had preferred sunbathing on the beach to skiing on any given Sunday. Hence, like LeBron, I decided to “take my talents to South Beach”.
At MBS, I have grown tremendously, as participation in case competitions, mentoring and study abroad programs have not only allowed me to develop greater knowledge and a better understanding of things through diverse perspectives, but they have also helped me enhanced my social network and communication skills. To compliment my already enriched experience at MBS, I participated in an exchange program to Germany, while also completed internships in a private equity fund and an investment bank in Hong Kong.
Coming to my last semester, I am truly blessed and honoured to have met some amazing people here at MBS. I truly appreciate everyone who has helped me; stood by me in presentations; stayed in the library with me until 2 am before finals; spent countless hours discussing assignments together… I wouldn’t have been able to do it without your support. Also, a massive THANK YOU to MBS for an amazing learning journey by providing excellent teaching staffs and an incredible study environment.
Attending Unimelb will always be one of the best decisions I’ve ever made; I’ll always cherish this glorious chapter of my life.”
