Hello, I’m Isha, and my journey at the University of Melbourne has been nothing short of transformative. Completing my Master of Management (Human Resources) was just the beginning. It was during this time that I truly discovered my passion for community, wellbeing, and personal growth. As an international student, I faced numerous challenges, from intense competition to a constant search for belonging. These struggles, however, ignited a fire within me to support others facing similar adversities.
Receiving the prestigious Leaders in Communities Award was a defining moment for me. It wasn’t just an acknowledgment of my efforts; it was a reaffirmation of my commitment to creating inclusive spaces where individuals could thrive personally and academically. Shortly after graduation, I collaborated with my alma mater to design and launch the University-wide ‘Melbourne Peer Mentoring Program,’ a testament to my dedication to community engagement and support.
My passion for wellbeing and engagement deepened as I navigated through my own challenges as an international student, including isolation, unemployment during the pandemic, and a lack of purpose. These experiences inspired me to seek ways to support others facing similar struggles. Today, I proudly advocate for mental health and consumer voices, serving as a community mentor for students and CALD communities. I am also dedicated to developing and supporting the vocational growth of my peers.
My journey at the University of Melbourne has reinforced my belief in the power of harnessing inner strengths and desires to forge a meaningful career. I firmly believe that with passion, dedication, and a supportive community, anyone can create a career that not only aligns with their values but also brings deep contentment and fulfillment in their pursuits and professional journeys.
What are your core values that you always live by? or what is your insipration?
Empathy, Integrity, and Continuous Growth.
I believe in treating others with compassion and respect, always striving to do the right thing even when it’s challenging. I am inspired by the resilience and strength of individuals who overcome adversity, and I aim to approach life with a similar mindset of perseverance and positivity.
