I’m Orel, my husband and I moved to Melbourne 1.5 years ago to have a new and exciting experiment in life. I’m studying Master of Management (Marketing), 2nd year. My hobbies are sports (especially Pilates and CrossFit), meeting new people and finding new food gems to recommend on my Insta (which someday I’ll be a food blogger).
An accomplishment I have achieved in Unimelb is keeping my scholarship so far :’)
What are your core values that you always live by? or what is your insipration?
My core value revolves around seeing individuals for who they truly are, transcending labels of nationality, region, or religion. Respect for others is paramount in how I interact and navigate the world. I believe in acknowledging the inherent dignity and uniqueness of each person I encounter, fostering understanding and empathy regardless of differences. This principle guides my actions, inspiring a commitment to inclusivity, compassion, and genuine connection in all aspects of life.
How do you balance study/work/extracurriculars/social life?
In pivotal years of my life, I assumed leadership roles, mastering the art of managing people, tasks, and time effectively. These experiences extended beyond professional realms, influencing how I navigate my personal life. I discovered solace and strength in my sanctuary—my home, my cherished family, and the companionship of my dogs. This nurturing environment empowers me to embrace authenticity and remain true to myself amidst life’s challenges.
What have been some of the most memorable or rewarding moments of your experience at MBS so far?
The most memorable experiences I’ve had involved hosting two grand holiday dinners with my husband for friends hailing from various corners of the globe in Melbourne. These gatherings aimed to unite in celebration, intertwining our joy and traditions with those of our international friends. We orchestrated two festive feasts, spaced six months apart, showcasing Jewish cuisine while inviting guests to contribute dishes from their own cultures, creating a tapestry of global flavours. These evenings were profoundly meaningful, bridging cultural divides and sharing cherished aspects of my heritage with dear friends.
